Description

Little Priory is an historic residence set in an historic situation. Wangford was the local seat of power in Medieval times, this being centre of local Clunniac influence since 1160. The Village is set out in a typical Claunniac manner. The original Clunniac Priory has largely disappeared, although elements remain. Lord Stradbroke undertook a significant rebuilding of the Church in the 1860's which stands today in it's Grade 1 listed glory. The Georgian residence itself has been extended in latter years; the Victorians adding extensions & outbuildings and more recently by local builders under the direction of a chartered architect.

The original form of 'Suffolk Longhouse' provides well proportioned rooms, with bedrooms, now near all ensuite. Real fireplaces are retained, beams exposed, sash windows & panelled doors. The Victorian extensions have been openned up with a conservatory extension to link the existing Coach House, providing a large kitchen family room arrangement facing south. The whole grouped around a private terrace area & sun trap. The outbuilding is flint & brick in finish providing three principal rooms with ensuite, bathroom & utility/kitchen.
